A Sunday in Sigacik/Seferihisar
Sigacik is a suburb of Seferihisar/Izmir, situated at the Mediterranean coast. The harbour and the old city walls are approximately 2000 years old and date back to the Northern Harbour of the ancient town of Teos. The fortification was reconstructed and enhanced in 1521/22 by an order of Sultan Süleyman and carried out by Parlak Mustafa Pasa to facilitate the conquest of Rhode. Every Sunday there is a market in this old part of town. Besides innumerable regional delicacies, you can find a variety of arts and crafts objects, for example hand-carved pendants from olive wood, felt bags, pictures made of feathers and leaves, colorful dresses.. A nice place to visit on a sunny Sunday.
